The Good Golf Coaching Pressure Band, as used and taught by Stuart Cartwright, is a simple resistance-band drill that teaches golfers how to apply pressure to the golf ball correctly — without flipping, scooping, or forcing positions.

Most golfers try to hit the ball. This band teaches you to pressure the ball, so compression and strike quality happen naturally.

What it trains in your golf swing

  • True ball compression (ball-first contact, solid strike)

  • Handle pressure through impact without flipping the wrists

  • Correct impact alignments without thinking about positions

  • Clubhead rebound after impact (instead of a forced hit)

  • Better low point control for irons and wedges

You’ll feel instantly whether the pressure is correct — or if you’re trying to help the ball into the air.

Why the Pressure Band works

The band creates external resistance against the club and body, so the only way to move it efficiently is to:

  • keep pressure in the handle,

  • maintain structure through impact,

  • and allow the clubhead to release after the ball.

If you throw the clubhead early or scoop, the band exposes it immediately.

How Stuart uses it (Good Golf Coaching method)

  • Anchor the band behind you or under the lead foot

  • Apply steady pressure through the handle as you swing

  • Focus on pressuring the ball, not hitting it

  • Start with short swings → build to full motion

The goal isn’t speed — it’s pressure at the right moment.

What you get

  • High-quality TheraBand-style resistance band

  • Progressive resistance suitable for all abilities

  • Lightweight & portable – perfect for home, range, or warm-ups

  • Works with irons, wedges, and controlled driver drills

Perfect for golfers who:

  • struggle with thin or fat strikes

  • flip or scoop at impact

  • lack compression with irons

  • feel “weak” through the ball

  • want a simple drill that creates real strike improvement

Why it fits the Good Golf Coaching philosophy

No forced positions.
No overthinking mechanics.
Just pressure, sequence, and better contact.
